The end of the handle is also designed as a useful tool for pushing down the inner bladder and outer bag material to the bottom of the thread of the dump valve base before screwing down the outer part of the valve. It is important to do this to prevent material from getting caught in the thread and ensure a good seal.

TIP: The photo above shows the correct positioning of the spanner when tightening clockwise. If you were to position the spanner like this when un-tightening the valve (anti-clockwise) the jaws may be prised apart potentially causing it to slip off. The solution is to flip the spanner over so that the main turning force is from the handle end of the spanner.
